Ryden Driving InstituteFAQ's

Can you tell me if Ryden Driving Institute is a certified driver training school in Maryland?
Although Ryden Driving Institute is listed on our list of driving schools in your area, we are unable to say with certainty as to whether they are currently licensed to teach hands-on driving courses in Maryland.  We recommend either calling Ryden Driving Institute directly or the Maryland DMV to find out whether or not Ryden Driving Institute offers hands-on driving courses that are state-approved.
Somebody told me that I can skip out of attending a driver training school if my parents give me behind-the-wheel training instead. Is that permissible in Maryland?
Each state has its own laws regarding driver training.  Some states will allow parentally-supervised behind-the-wheel training as a substitute for taking a behind-the-wheel training course which is taught by a professional driving instructor.  However, not all states allow this.  You should contact the Maryland DMV to find out for sure.
Do I need to tell Ryden Driving Institute that I need to train with an automatic-shift automobile? I don't know how to drive a manual-shift automobile.
Most new drivers don't know how to operate either a manual-shift OR and automatic-shift car!  We recommend that you ask Ryden Driving Institute if you can complete your driver training using an automatic-shift vehicle before you enroll in their driver training course.
I live in a small rural town, where there are a lot of small, unpaved roads. Will my driver training with Ryden Driving Institute include learning how to drive in rural areas? Or do they just offer training for city driving?
Most local driving schools will likely want their students to be taught how to drive safely in the local area.  Therefore, chances are good that the behind-the-wheel training you receive from Ryden Driving Institute will include handling dirt roads and mountain driving.
If I'm 14, can I get an instruction permit to drive in Maryland?
Possibly.  However, you should be aware that most states require you to be at least 15½ years old before you can get an instruction permit.  We recommend that you contact the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a certified driving school such as Ryden Driving Institute to find out exactly what the minimum age requirement is in Maryland.
Will I be required to sign up for both a drivers education classroom or online course and a driver training course in Lanham Maryland?
It depends on which state you live in, but many states now require new teen-aged drivers to enroll in both a drivers education course as well as a driver training course.
I have to take a defensive driving course in Lanham Maryland. Can I meet this requirement by enrolling in Ryden Driving Institute?
Yes, Ryden Driving Institute offers drivers education courses in Lanham Maryland.  You will need to contact Ryden Driving Institute directly to get more information on the types of courses they offer and when to sign up for a class.
What do I need to do to get a Maryland drivers license in Lanham Maryland?
Most states require that teen-agers who are applying for their first driver's license complete both a safe driving classroom course and a driver training course.  Ryden Driving Institute may be able to help you fulfill the behind-the-wheel training portion in Maryland.  Please contact Ryden Driving Institute for more information.

Is it necessary for me to enroll in a driver training course in order to get my first Maryland driver's license?
Yes, it is.  All teen-aged drivers applying for their first driver's license in Maryland must complete a state-approved behind-the-wheel training course.
Do I need to have my learner's permit before I sign up to take a behind-the-wheel training course like the one that Ryden Driving Institute offers?
You will need to contact Ryden Driving Institute or the Maryland DMV to find out if you are allowed to sign up with a driving school like Ryden Driving Institute before obtaining your Maryland instruction permit.
